Gaelic Language Plans and the Scottish Funding Council

This talk will cover what drives the Scottish Funding Council’s work on Gaelic policy, the influence this has on what we do and how this is changing over time.  SFC has to respond to the needs of Gaelic both as a funding body and as an employer.  Our Gaelic Language Plan sets out key markers for both areas of work.  In our second GLP, however, we are consciously raising our sights to look at the broad influence we can have for Gaelic by working in partnership with other public bodies as well as with the colleges and universities we fund. I will review the direction we intend to take and how the institutions we fund can be part of this work.
